About the MFA-VA program
the Sam Fox School of Design and Visual ArtsMFA-VA Program is an inclusive and tight-knit community of renegade creators and thinkers. Drawing on the vast resources of Washington University in St. Louis, a leading research institution, the program provides students with a site of rigorous inquiry, intellectual generosity, and professional preparation. Our community instills in students the agency and resilience essential for this generation of artists.

Facilities and location
MFA-VA studios are located in Weil Room, a brand new LEED-Platinum facility. Students have access to many specialized training courses spaces to doincluding an 3D digital manufacturing laboratorya textile workshop, a vast engraving suite – house for Island Press and the Kranzberg Book Workshop – and more. The studios are adjacent to the school Kranzberg Library of Art and Architecture and the Mildred Lane Kemper Art Museumwho recently hosted Ai Weiwei: The Naked Life and is the site of the annual exhibition of MFA-VA theses.

In addition to program chair Lisa Bulawksy, our teachers include Jamie Adams, Michael Byron, Amy Hauft, Meghan Kirkwood, Richard Krueger, Arny Nadler, Patricia Olynyk, Tim Portlock, Jack Risley, Denise Ward-Brown, Cheryl Wassenaar and Monika Weiss.
